No there is not, but you can ask for a free copy of your credit report by mail once a year in Canada by law. There are three main credit bureaus in Canada: Northern Credit Bureaus, Equifax Canada and Trans Union of Canada. |

The only totally free credit reports with no strings attached are available on http://www.annualcreditreport. com You should have been able to request and view your credit reports from all three credit bureaus right online. I was able to request all three about 6 months ago and had no problem. There are circumstances where they may need to have you call or mail in additional information to verify your identity. In those cases, you won't receive the report until it is sent to you. Also, be aware that those free credit reports do not include credit scores. If you want your scores, you have to pay an extra $5-8 per credit bureau. There are many sites that advertise a free credit report, but then make you sign up for a credit monitoring service (which you can normaly cancel within 30 days and not have to pay). After you sign up for the credit monitoring, you get the "free" credit report and score. Even with these reports, they are available for immediate online viewing. Your best bet is to find the website where you requested the credit report and read the fine print to see if it offers any clues about why you couldn't view it online. If that doesn't help, try contacting the website owners to ask them what the deal is. |

I believe www.annualcreditreport.com gives you one free one per year. You can also get one through Experian, TransUnion or Equifax once a year with no cost. |
