...College (Latin collegium) is a term most often used today to denote an educational institution. More broadly, it can be the name of any group of colleagues (see, for example electoral college, College of Arms, College of Cardinals). Originally, it meant a group of persons living together under a common set of rules (con- = "together" + leg- = "law" or lego = "I choose"); indeed, some colleges call their members "fellows". The precise usage of the term varies among English-speaking countries. Read full entry

1. Do your homework! You may have been able to get by in high school without doing your homework (or doing it during class the period before it was due), but in college, the value of the practice right after class cannot be ignored. You'll be able to do the homework because you just learned the concept, and the homework will solidify it in your brain. 2. Schedule projects to be done before the due date. If you have a project that is due in four weeks, plan it out so you'll be done in 3. This way, if something interferes (another class gets crazy), you'll have some adjustment time. 3. Review your class notes from the day every evening. Fill in what you remember or clarify what doesn't quite make sense when you review. 4. Buy used books whenever possible. Flip through the book to see that the previous owner wasn't obsessed with highlighters! (You should see key ideas highlighted, not entire paragraphs.) 5. Enjoy your social life, but not to the total distraction of classwork. Stay safe. Travel with a friend after dark and keep to main thoroughfares (don't walk between desolate buildings to take a short cut.) Good luck, and ENJOY! |

Do colleges care if you have I am a sophomore at 4-year
college right now and don't
like the school. I want to
fininsh off this coming
semester so I can transfer to
a community college since it's
cheaper. I plan on taking the
next semester at a cc. And
then when I become a junior,
I'm going to another 4-year
college to graduate. Will the
colleges I will be applying
next year wonder why I started
out as a student at a 4-year
college but then decided to
transfer over to a community
colleges?

theyll probably ask... because inquiring minds (and nosy minds) want to know but its know big deal... heck I did the same thing ... the first university was too much money for me(I was out of state) so I went back in state to attend a community college and I received my associates after that I went to a 4 year university and I received my bachelor I was only there for 10 month because I recieved majority of my credits from the first university and the community college |

What Christian college should Hey everybody. Right now I'm a
(female) sophomore in high
school in Omaha, NE. I'm
trying to figure out where I
want to go to college. I'm
planning on working in the
music industry when I
graduate. I know of a
Christian college called
Evangel in Springfield, MO
that offers a "Bachelor of
Science in Music Industry". I
want a program like that, but
I also think it would be good
if there was a record label
near my college so I could
possibly work as a college
representative. Do any of you
know where there are any
Christian colleges with a good
music industry program, AND a
record label nearby so I could
possibly work there while I'm
in college?

Belmont University in Nashville, TN would be perfect. They offer a Bachelor of Music Business. Most Christian music record labels are situated in the heart of Nashville. Some that I know of include: Word Music (featuring artists like Amy Grant, Randy Travis, David Phelps, Point of Grace, Jaci Velasquez among many others), Sparrow records, Forefront Records, the list goes on and on. I had a friend who went to Belmont and received a music business degree and interned at a local Christian music label while she was in school and is not only working for them but also recording/releasing cd's/and opening for bands. |
