The biggest change Hitler made to the DAP (German Worker's party) was abandoning most of the socialist platform. Which is not surprising in that the original DAP consisted of mostly farmers, unskilled workers, lower middle-class shop keeps and ex-army officers and war veterans. None of these groups ever found socialism appealing. It was a successful strategy on his part as it attracted even more members who feared losing property in a socialist state. |

The Nazis were capitalists and racist militarists who hated liberals, leftists, trade unions, pacifists and minorities. What does that sound like to you. If you had called them leftists during their reign of power in Germany, you would have wound up in a concentration camp. |
