Who has been pulled over for I got a ticket near Albany. 62
in a 45 work zone on the
thruway. I was in the process
of slowing down, but I guess I
didnt do it fast enough. I
plead not guilty and sent a
"nice" letter like the officer
told me to do. Now, I have a
court date instead. I really
dont feel like driving to
Albany again. In fact, I cant,
because I work full time and I
dont think I can make it.
So, has anyone just bent over
and taken it you know where?
What were the damages? I just
switced insurance, so maybe it
wont show up until they renew?
Thanks.

Normally your fine is doubled in a work zone & the bent over ? that's a crazy one 2 ask.Your insurance company will know about your ticket ASAP..Good Luck |

Are you supposed to drive I drive on interstates
regularly that have 55 speed
limits. I try to be within 60
however traffic flow is in 65
most of the time. Sometime I
had to speed up as there were
big trucks tailgating me.
Things become worse in the
work zone stretches with 45
speed limits. Most of the time
there is no worker. Am I still
supposed to drive in 45?

Regardless of whether or not there are people working or not, you are required by law to obey the posted speed limit. As for the trucks that are tailgating you, move over to the right lane, copy down the name and number of the company and let them know what their drivers are doing. As a Highway Patrol Officer for NYC, i routinely enforce posted speed limits @ work zones. I try to be as fair as possible and usually don't write anyone for less than 30mph over the posted limit. Furthermore, if there aren't any workers then I just change the subdivision and make it a regular speeding ticket as opposed to speeding in a work zone (double fine). |

How fast should a car go in a I'm a new driver (only been
driving for 3 months) and went
through a work zone today.
They had their "Slow" signs
held up, so I went 20mph, but
I felt like that was really
slow. I think I read in the
book you're supposed to go
about 15mph, but I don't know
for sure. Should I hover
between 15-20mph next time?

It varies in my part of the country. In urban areas they set up temporary speed signs based on a number of factors. On the highway it is a Provincial law that you must slow to 60 Kms/hour = approx. 37 Mph. when approaching and passing through a construction zone. And passing another vehicle is prohibited. |
