Why does everyone think Nazisand Wehrmacht were all crazysatanic bloodthirsty germans?Or were they?
I'm tired of it, I cannot tell you how many times I have heard people crack jokes about Nazis and Germany. They all treat them like torturers and bullies. Infact, my friend that is German has had jokes made about him. Wasn't the majority of Wehrmacht just thinking for Germany and it's people? Or were they really bloodthirsty goons that were hell bent on anhialation?
Well everyone thinks they were satanic and bloodthirsty because it is far easier to live with it. It is based on the idea: "why are people bad? because they o bad things. Why do they do bad things? because they're bad." Yet this explains nothing. The point is: many members of the Wehrmacht (I think about one to two thirds of it... not too sure though) were either directly involved in the killing of civilians or at least witnessed it. And NO not all soldiers were Nazis but this didn't stop many of them from shooting innocent civilians. And YES they had a choice. As far as I know there isn't a single case documented were a soldier recieved serious punishment (i.e. death or at least a serious beating) for not shooting civilians. But still the Germans shooting civilians weren't bloodthirsty satanics. They were ordinary men. and no your friend shouldn't be made fun of. The sins of the (Grand-) fathers shouldn't be passed on the sons.
