Suetonius says that Roman as ridiculous, but cling to
the stories of Jesus doing the
same.
Isn't it obvious that people
were gullible back then, and
the same superstitious stories
circulated about many
different people?
Jesus wasn't the first person
to have his followers claim he
was born to a virgin or that
he rose from the dead or even
that he ascended to heaven.
It was practically common
place by the time the Jesus
cult did it.
So why do the Christians
dismiss the other stories,
which are backed by as much
evidence as their versions?
cheryllynn, quite a few of
them. You seem to be under the
impression that mythology is
different than religion. Many
people were persecuted and
killed for their religions,
and after the third century,
it was the Christians doing
most of the persecuting and
killing.
According to Josephus, there
were a lot of ignorant people
willing to run off and die
whenever a poser Messiah
popped out of the woodwork.
Jesus and his followers were
not unique in any way for that
time period.

What is so is so, and what is not is not. You or I can't change facts or history. Jesus is God. God does all. |

Vaspasian had Josephus under arrest, and Josephus found it expedient to do some quick and deep- apple polishing. |
