...Vehicles may be propelled or pulled by engines or animals including humans, for instance, a chariot, a stagecoach, a mule-drawn barge, an ox-cart or rickshaw. However, animals on their own, though used as a means of transport, are not called vehicles, but rather beasts of burden or draft animals. This distinction includes humans carrying another human, for example a child or a disabled person. Means of transport without a vehicle or animal would include walking, running, crawling, or swimming. Read full entry

ANy Chev or GM dealer can run the VIN, and give you a copy of the build sheet, also being a 2008 they might have the window sticker, and it should be on your contract if bought new. |

What makes a vehicle jerk Well, for the past 3 months
I've been taking my for
expedition to a ford company
and I've been telling the
service people my vehicle is
jerking after driving off from
traffic lights , stops signs,
or driving upward hills. This
has not happen before.
Something is wrong with my
vehicle. If I start to drive
off the vehicle will stall
then jerk and take off. This
is dangerous to me.But, the
company tells me to wait until
the red light come on ,
because we don't see a problem

That sounds typical of car dealers. I suppose it is difficult to diagnose, but it sounds to me like they just giving you the run-around. You need to INSIST that they take a test drive with you in the vehicle. As you say it's dangerous and you could possibly be involved in an accident before the check engine light ever comes on. It could be a clogged fuel line, dirty filter or any number of things, but unless they experience it themselves they might not be able to find the problem. |

How can I protect my vehicle I have a vehicle that is paid
off, and I plan on trying to
keep this one, and putting up
my other vehicle in the
bankruptcy. Is there any way I
can try to protect this
vehicle? It wont be able to
fall under an exemption for
the state I have to file
under. I know they will take
it and I will have no vehicles
if they do.

Unfortunately when you file bankruptcy it is easier to exempt a vehicle on which you have a secured lien than it is to exempt a vehicle that is fully paid for. This is due to the unfortunate way the law is written. Although the 2005 Bankruptcy Reform Act prohibits attorneys from advising clients to incur new debt before filing bankruptcy, I have often heard various attorneys say that they wished they could advise clients in your situation to take out a loan using the paid-up vehicle as collateral prior to filing bankruptcy. Then you could reaffirm the loan and keep it by making payments on that loan. The lien must be PERFECTED prior to filing the bankruptcy, which generally means that the lender must have recorded the lien against the vehicle's title with your state DMV. (In other words, it doesn't work just to have a friend or relative lend you the money and sign a piece of paper promising your vehicle as collateral - they'd have to record the lien too.) The danger of doing this is that if you don't make the payments on this loan following bankruptcy, you will lose the vehicle to the lien holder. There is nothing illegal about doing this. The problem is that the 2005 Bankruptcy Reform Act made it illegal for your attorney to advise you to do it. Anything else you might do, such as transferring the title to somebody else prior to bankruptcy, must be disclosed (under penalty of purjury) and will be undone by the Trustee, who will then take the vehicle. |
