What is one personality trait In English, we are reading The
Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn, by Mark Twain. For one
of the questions on a study
guide we have to fill out, it
asks what a personality trait
that shows Huck is sympathetic
is. So if anyone could help,
and also have information from
to book to support it, that
would be great.
Thanks!

In Huck, Mark Twain tried to create an "innocent" character who wasn't corrupted by hypocritical and snobbish society. So he had him grow up outside of town with a father who was too drunk to really influence or educate him. Huck is honest and unhypocritical. He sees the truth about people and situations. For example, he befriends and helps Jim because Jim is a good person, even though he's a runaway slave. He remarks that he'll probably go to hell for doing it, but that's part of Twain's satirical criticism of a society that condoned slavery. |
