...A toy is an object used in play. Toys are usually associated with children and pets, but it is not unusual for adult humans and some non-domestic animals to play with toys. Many items are manufactured to serve as toys, but goods, or (game-centric) services produced for other purposes can also be used as toys. A child may pick up a household item and 'fly' it around pretending that it is an airplane, or an animal might play with a pinecone by batting at it, biting it, chasing it, or by throwing it up in the air. Some toys are produced primarily as collector's items and are not intended to be played with. Read full entry

Toys........?
My county and some other towns
surrounding my county got some
bad flooding. The toy time by
my area was totally destroyed.
All the toys that they had
saved up for the kids were
destroyed. I have a bunch of
old toys that I was going to
get rid of anywho and I
wondered if I should give them
to toy time? Would it be
better if I gave them to toy
time or the salvation army?
and do they take other toys
besides stuffed animals? Like
do they take barbies and stuff
and do you have to wash
everything before you give it
to toy time? Thanx!!!!

Call your local tv news channels. They usually have all up to date information that you may need or want to ask. |

What is the best toys to get I want to get him a toy box
for future toys and he won't
mind getting that instead of a
toy. I just don't know whats
the best for toys. I get
confused everytime we go to
the toy department. The
problem we have is that he'll
be 1 year old only a month
later so its hard to get him
12 month toys for his first
christmas and then older toys
only a month later. At this
point he usually likes the
packaging more than whats in
it.

For my son's first Christmas, we gave him diapers. =) Don't worry so much about the ages listed on boxes. My son plays with just about anything that we help him find interesting. Even if the toy says "18 months" there will be plenty that he will find interesting. Really you only need to watch out for small parts he can swallow or moving parts that can pinch. Other than that, find something that you think fits his personality- animals, trucks, etc- and let him figure it out in his own time. Also, books are always good. Even if they seem old, they always grow into them. Kids love pictures, plus you can feel like you're helping them learn. OH- and if they make noise, make sure they have an OFF button. Rule number 1!!! Right now, my 13 month old son is walking around with a diaper and an empty bowl. Kids love anything they can learn to manipulate. But now I think I'll go help him play with some real toys- my break is over. =) |

Good safe toys to leave in the Keep in mind they are toy
murders and the kongs barely
hold up with them....the dogs
are a toy poodle and a 20
pound terrier mix....so I'm
looking for good entertaining
toys they can enjoy for the
hour or two they are alone and
then also just safe toys in
general that they might not
destroy...
(they only seem to be able to
handle tennis balls)
We can't have anything plush
or squeaky (they destroy
those)
No ropes or anything stringy
(they eat those)
Thanks
We haven't tried the black
kongs....our poodle you put
the kong in the cage with the
treats (we can't do peanut
butter its forbidden in this
house...I'm highly allergic to
it) and he won't touch it
until we let him out....and
our terrier mix just likes to
destroy...but the only things
she has any real interest in
are her chew bones...she will
quickly destroy most toys and
go back to her bones if she
doesn't have a bone she gets
destructive

Sounds like you have a couple of avid little chewers on your hands! Have you tried the black kongs? They are super sturdy, especially for small dogs. Also, I would go with nylabones (there are all kinds and shapes) and raw beef bones. Make sure they are raw. Cooked bones splinter, raw ones don't. |
