Questions/Answers
timothy hay..?
okay, so im trying to get my rabbit used to timothy hay, but it just seems to like alfalfa better. it doesnt eat as much timothy. it eats regular orchard grass and alfalfa, and its pellets and vegetable. any suggestions on how i can get it to eat timothy?
Stop the alfalfa since he likes it better he wont eat the timothy hay so stop the other & it will eat it better i've been through this because i have guinea pigs & had to change them to timothy hay. Sometimes picky eating habits can often be traced to dental problems if you're sure it isn't that then just try the other & good luck...
Whats the difference oftimothy hay from differentbrands?
I have 4 guinea pigs. We have always gave them Kaytee Timothy Hay because I heard that is the best. Recently we got a coupon to PetCo and got free timothy hay from a different brand. I was wondering is there a difference from Kaytee and the other brands? Or it doesnt matter and it just is as good if its timothy hay? P.S. - The brand is Petco, its there brand
It's personal preference. Timothy hay is timothy hay. As long as it's fresh, just go with what your piggies like.
How necessary is timothy hayfor rabbits?
I've been feeding my rabbits timothy hay everyday but was wondering how necessary it is. I heard something about it helping their digestion but was just curious to the necessity of it.
Timothy hay itself isn't what's necessary. It's grass hay, things like orchard, brome, oat, timothy, bluegrass, etc. Rabbits need unlimited hay. It is pretty much the largest part of their diet and provides all of the necessary fiber and nutrients that pellets and vegetables just cannot provide in an effective manner.
