I am thinking twice about law I thought I wanted to do
Environmental Law but now I am
thinking twice. Law school is
really expensive and really
demanding, not to add that I
am only one person and don't
really think I can make much
of a difference. Lawyers are
typically over-worked and
misserable. Am I wrong? Is the
time, money, heartache worth
it?

Is the University of Florida I have dreams of going MIT or
Stanford, and I have a chance
at it, but I'm highly
doubtful. I live in Florida,
so I am most likely going to
UF. I get in practially free,
too. I want to go to a
well-respected school. Now I
know UF isn't an Ivy League or
MIT, but is it up there with
the "top" schools? How does it
compare with Georgia Tech?

Academically it is nowhere near the top colleges. If you look at the highly respected unbiased Academic Ratings of the Princeton Review (they do this for their livelihood), they rate University of Florida at a 72 academically. Georgia Tech is only rated a 74. By comparison other top colleges get much higher marks: Harvard: 99 MIT: 97 Williams: 98 Holy Cross: 98 Middlebury: 98 Yale: 96 Notre Dame: 92 Georgetown: 92 |
