This is not a full hd tv, so no it won't do 1080p. But it will happily do 1080i, so no great loss. As for calibrating the TV, there is no real way to quickly answer that, as all TVs are different. Even 2 TVs coming off the production line next to each other will likley require slightly different settings to each other. But if you are genuinely interested in getting it looking as good as possible you can purchase a calibration DVD such as Digital Video Essentials (DVE) which will instruct you with test patterns etc. If you don't want to spend any money, email me, and I can give you a few pointers (too much to write as an answer to a question).

How would i connect my tv tomy bose companion 3 speakerswhilst there already installedon my pc?
1) I have bose companion 3 speakers installed on my computer, but want to connect my nearby tv to them also, but so the speakers can play from both my computer and tv. Is there an easy way to do this? The tv is a 32 inch samsung hd flat screen if that helps. 2) Also is there a way i could add an extra subwoofer to the bose speakers? There is a headphone jack on the volume control of the speakers if that helps.
How is it possible to getcable channels on a tv withoutcable or a satellite dish?
TV- no cable is running from cable outlet on wall to TV/VCR/DVD.. NONE. TV receives "cable channels" (weather/espn/disney etc) via built in rabbit ears on TV. NO satellite dish on premises. How? TV is 7 years old. Is there such a thing as a built in satellite receiver?

I don't believe it is possible to receive satellite without a dish to receive and focus the signal. It is possibe the rabbit ears a picking up a signal "leaking" from a nearby cable line (this would still be a stretch). Are there any other cable connected to the tv (such as rca, s-video, dvi etc.)?
