Southern hemisphere?
Is astrology in the southern hemisphere different at all? Different characteristics? Or is it essentially the same thing?
Want your sign to be a wombat or a llama? As you may know there are different types of astrology. Chinese, Mayan, Vedic, along with the earliest in Babylon. These are all in the Northern Hemisphere. The Incas did have a 20 sign type. I don't know of any Australian astrology. The constellations in the southern skies were named mainly by Europeans.
Can trees from the SouthernHemisphere trees survive inthe Northern Hemisphere?
I remember when I was in middle school, a teacher told me trees in the Southern Hemisphere cannot be transplanted into the Northern Hemisphere (and be expected to survive) because of the rotation of the trees in the hemispheres. I was wondering if this is a fact. Please include SOURCES to verify or negate the above. Thank you all in advance!
There are many eucalyptus trees growing happily in the northern hemisphere. You find evidence in every garden centres and in many gardens. Other trees I have personally grown very successfully include Araucaria (both Monkeypuzzle and A. araucana). During the time of the British empire people have brought back trees and other plants to Britain, many of those are still here, I never heard any of them complain about the earth rotation. I think your teacher was pulling your leg.
Why is it summer in theNorthern Hemisphere when it iswinter in the SouthernHemisphere?
Why is it summer in the Northern Hemisphere when it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere? The Northern Hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun and receives more direct sunlight. The Northern Hemisphere is closer to the Sun than the Southern Hemisphere. The Northern Hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun and receives more indirect sunlight. The Northern Hemisphere is "on top" of Earth and therefore receives more sunlight. It isn't: both hemispheres have the same seasons at the same time.
The Northern Hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun and receives more direct sunlight.
