How many socialist policies Just wondering ... if one
passes one policy that is
socialistic does that mean
that they are socialist? OR
how many does it take? Like 2,
3 or 4?
For example, Government
"managed" health care will be
funded by the taxpayers and
managed by the government for
the taxpayer, therefore
leaving it a socialist policy.

How does a socialist Or, how is a socialist
government formed?
I've tried a couple sites and
can't really pin point a clear
answer.
If anyone knows, or has any
links with information
regarding this.
It's for my English class, we
have to research three types
of governments.

By force or by subversion. The Russian Revolution was by both. The revolution against the czar was supposed to be the "peoples revolution" but surprise, the next leaders were far worse. Communism (actually socialism) was then spread by force in wars and revolutions. Backed by Russia at that time. In europe and America it grows by subversion. Socialism is the consequence of success. Too many people with too much time and money on their hands. The have nots blame the haves and overtime the haves (through guilt) start to give to the have nots. It gets worse. Freedom to think and speak are crushed. People who are liberals will shout you down if you disagree. There was a time when people had to devote most of their time to survival. Now that we have so much time an money we can waste them on other "warm fuzzy" things. We are told we are wrong and slowly over time we start to believe it. So now we have riots over gay rights, protests over the military and wars and PETA. )I do not endorse cruelty to animals but that is not what they stand for). So, many voted for a candidate that wants to spread the wealth, give universal health care and take away all that made this country great. |

How is China still socialist China now is becoming more
market-oriented, but I am
still confused as to how China
is still socialist.
If China is becoming
increasingly market-oriented,
how does it still have a
socialist system? What
characteristics of China make
it a socialist state?
Well, if you're in party mode
then why would you want to
answer a question like this?
:o Anyway, we make no bones
about it, nice weekend to you
too my friend.

China has something called "market socialism." This means the state owns much of the assets in the economy, whether it be certain industries (usually "commanding heights"), or a large percentage of the companies, but the government doesn't set the prices. In a fully socialized economy, the government planning board sets prices, and tries to control both the supply and demand in the economy. China still adheres to Marxist Ideology, and has a one-party system. They have been adapting/reevaluating their definition of Marxism as they have become more involved with international trade. Wikipedia has an article on "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics" and "Market Socialism." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S ocialism_with_Chinese_characte ristics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M arket_socialism A more detailed explanation of Market Socialism is at http://www.economicexpert.com/ a/Socialist:market:economy.htm And some theorists see a free capitalistic society as the end result of a communist revolution. (Revolution, Dictatorship/Totalitarian State, Proletariat Equal Rule). China is still somewhat socialist by the dominance of the Party's dominance, and it's political/social behaviors prohibitions. Hope this helps. |
