...A single-party state, one-party system or single-party system is a type of party system government in which a single political party forms the government and no other parties are permitted to run candidates for election. Sometimes the term de facto single-party state is used to describe a dominant-party system where laws or practices prevent the opposition from legally getting power. Some single party states only outlaw opposition parties, while allowing subordinate allied parties to exist as part of a permanent coalition such as a popular front. Within their own countries, dominant parties ruling over single-party states are often referred to simply as the Party. For example, in reference to the Soviet Union, the Party meant the Communist Party of the Soviet Union; in reference to the former People's Republic of Poland it referred to the Polish United Workers' Party. What is one right wing single I was thinking that the left
wing single party state would
be the Bolsheviks and the
right wing single party state
would be the Mensheviks, but
am I right?

No, the Mensheviks were initially in the same Marxist party as the Bolsheviks - the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party - so they were also left-wing. I'm a little confused about your question; do you mean a left, or right, wing party during the period before the October Revolution, or, do you mean a one party state that existed at the same time as the Soviet Union that were left or right wing? If the first - then the nearest to a right wing party during the revolutionary period would be the Cadets, who were a liberal democratic party (there were no right wing parties of any size). If you mean the second - then either Fascist Italy or Nazi Germany were extant during the lifespan of the Soviet Union. And China became Communist under Mao in 1948. Edit - Right-wing political movements during the revolutionary period might be a way to describe the White armies (a very loose collection of anti-Bolshevik forces, some were monarchists, others were religiously motivated and many were just anti-bolshevik) See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W hite_armies |

Get up on the podium and, with good poses and a great voice, talk about "change" and "hope" and "turning a page" - be very vague so folks won't understand exactly what you mean. They will respond to the sound of your voice and your appearance. Ensure that your political allies in the press praise you constantly while ridiculing your opponents. Ensure that your opponent is restricted by honorable rules about campaign finance, while evading those rules yourself. A financial advantage helps a lot. Build up your voting base with foreigners. Bring them into the country then create schemes like "Motor Voter" to allow them to vote. Promise them handouts and they will vote for you. Ultimately, once you've got control over the Congress and the White House, start calling out for all sorts of rules to prevent the next guy from doing what you did, thereby securing your party's control for a long time. Most especially, MAKE SURE your people dominate the school system (to indoctrinate the next generation of voters) and the mass media (so that the public will get a very positive view of whatever your party does, a negative view of your opponents). Also, disarm the public with all sorts of "common sense" gun laws if you think they might oppose you. So, the pamphlet should be all about Change, Hope, A New Future, should feature iconic artwork (instead of photographs). Promise folks that they will be joining "The Party of Change" or "The Party that Moves Us Forward". Most of the public are conformists. Convince them they are joining a movement that is already big. |
