Can the self-fulfillingprophecy (psychology) becaused by the media?
I don't clearly understand this concept. Can it be attributed to the following example: A person discriminates against a certain group of people. However, when exposed to television which is actually portraying that group of people in a positive way (against stereotypes or as beautiful people), that particular person will believe what he saw. Therefore, he will have less negative attitudes about that group of people he used to discriminate against. Is that an example of self-fulfilling prophecy in psychology?
For example if you were blind and someone kept poking you with a stick without saying a word and then that very same person started speaking to you in a nice tone, human instincts tells him that that person is the guilty party.
