What is the best Seine riverdinner cruise in Paris?
We are going to Paris from July 15-22nd. We want to do a romantic dinner cruise on the Seine but are on a tight budget. Neither one of us drink alcohol, so the wine list is of little importance. Any suggestions? Should I book before we leave or once we get there?
We went on Bateaux Parisiens and it was wonderful. It does include 2 bottles of wine, and we don't really drink either, but it came with a wonderful meal, nice live music, and it was romantic and relaxing. We paid a bit more for a window seat, but you can see well from anywhere on the boat. The dock is just to the right of the Eiffel Tower facing the river. We also booked on line in advance and I doubt if it saved anything except our window seats. Everything was in order, our names were on the list when we arrived and they were very nice. Dress is nice--we actually saw people turned away because they were too casual, but they were probably walk-ups and didn't know the dress code. Enjoy the dinner cruise, see Paris light up in front of you and don't worry so much about the cost. It isn't too bad and well worth the memories. Just skip paying the €20 for the photo at your table. We paid €120 each for the window seats and this is the only one we did so its all I can tell you about, but it was wonderful and we loved it on our first night in Paris. Bonne chance and enjoy whatever you decide.
Can anyone suggest a companyin Paris to rent a houseboaton the Seine for 4 adults inOctober for a week?
4 adults would like a moderate to nice houseboat on the Seine (preferably close to the Latin Quarter) for a week starting Oct. 25 2007. Any suggestions or websites? I've looked for hours!!! Thanks!

How do I determine whether astreet in Paris is parallel tothe Seine or not?
For example: Rue de Grenelle, Avenue Montaigne, Boulevard Saint-Germain, Avenue des Champs-Elysees, Rue Washington and Rue de Monceau. Are they parallel or not to the River Seine?
Well, Paris isn't an American city; Meaning that the street were there before any car and the street system isn't based on a North/South or East/West grid. They are not straight and don't cut at angle, that is why it is so easy to get lost in medieval streets like the ones next to Notre Dame for example. The best thing is to check out the internet or go to your local bookstore in the travel section they sell maps of the city. When you are there you will be amazed by the shortness and somewhat narrowness of certain streets. I had the opposite feeling the first time I came to the US. My advice would be: don't try to use the Seine as an orientation tool, use a map. Enjoy being lost in Paris it is a wonderful way to discover the city and its hidden treasures.
