Judah Maccabee and his 4 brothers were known as "the Maccabees." It means "the hammer" in the ancient language. I know that they were fighting the Syrian army because Antiochus was trying to make the Israelites worship the Greek gods. That's all I know. |

I found a couple of books
(volume 1 &2) yesterday as I
was searching a used book
store for some good reading...
They contain what appears to

I was about to put them back
on the shelf considering I
already had an arm load but
then decided against it. Any
opinions? Please only those
who are knowledgable please
answer...

I had a bible when I was a Catholic and those are part of it, like Tobit, Judith,Baruch, and Maccabees as far as I can remember. If it is not inspired so they say, I don't see anything wrong reading it ,for the purpose of additional knowledge. |
