Presentation
This gait pattern is reminiscent of a marionette. Hypertonia in the legs, hips and pelvis means these areas become flexed, to various degrees, giving the appearance of crouching, while tight adductors produce extreme adduction, presented by knees and thighs hitting or crossing in a scissors-like movement, while the opposing muscles, the abductors, become comparatively weak from lack of use. Most common in patients with spastic cerebral palsy, usually diplegic and paraplegic varieties. The individual is forced to walk on tiptoe unless the plantarflexor muscles are released by an orthaepedic surgical procedure. Surgeons can cut the tight muscle called "Adductor Release" it cuts the middle thigh muscles that causes that scissoring gait. But it really is a surgical procedure they have to undergo. Talk to your pediatrician or surgeon about it. |

First off, all caps are an eye sore, and universal for yelling! So when I saw this it seemed like you were screaming to me! So maybe write in lower caps from now on please? Second off you shouldn't swim where a horse cant touch the ground. I know that some people do, but that is my opinion. Horses that cant touch can flip struggling in the water and land on you. And if a horse does start to drown where it cant touch, its instincts are going to kick in. It wont have any gait going, it will be FLAILING! No horse is devoted to its training enough to still be gaiting when drowning LOL. So no I dont think it will be a problem, try to stay where your horse has at least half of its barrel above water. Good luck, have fun but be safe! |
