School Music?
So kids at my school listen to things like: Death Cab for Cutie, Feist, The Shins Franz Ferdinand Arctic Monkeys Broken Social Scene Arcade Fire The Decemberists Muse Sufjan Stevens Mostly bands with a really indie feel. Personally, I'm not really a fan of that kind of music, and normally I would go to the record store and look through stuff. The problem is that I live in a pretty small town so its pretty slim pickings. I like garage rock type of music, that's not too main stream. Really rock in general with non poppy vocals (i listen to a lot of older rock, so i'm looking for more recent music) I was wondering if anybody had suggestions.

I'm into the rock alternative stuff.
What would be a good movie toshow for a summer high schoolmusic camp?
We're brainstorming ideas, and we'd like for the movie to relate to music in some sort of way. We can only show G or PG because of policy. A PG-13 might be possible, depending on why it was given that rating. Our ideas so far are August Rush and Mr. Holland's Opus. One person suggested Amadeus, but that's rated R. It seems like everyone watches MHO some time during high school band, so we'd rather not use that one. Any other ideas? Thanks.

why am I hearing Publicservice announcements on theradio about school musicprograms?
Why are they pushing music in school? Shouldn't they be pushing reading, writing and 'rithmatic first?
Probably because a lot of schools are having to cut out musical programs because of financial issues. And there are people who don't want to see this happen. Ergo, the ads you've been hearing.
