What is the best FREE way toadvertise the great Santa FeTrail Horse Race coming inSeptember 2007?
I've added the info to the "Interactive Santa Fe Trail" web page at http://www.kansasheritage.org/ research/sft/index.html and a Santa Fe Trail email group, but think there MUST be better ways to find actual horse owners who might be interested in signing up to participate in the race to see how fast a team of horses can go from Santa Fe, NM to Independence, MO. In 1848 Francis X. Aubry won a $1,000 bet by making the trip in 136 hours (5 days and 16 hours). Six of his horses didn't survive the trip, but I'm not sure how many horses he started with. More info is at http://www.kansasheritage.org/ research/sft/horses.html
Well, the Tevis cup is 100 miles, in a single day, on a single horse. And a lot of folks have completed that challenge. I think having 10 horses per rider is not a test of horse endurance...but, what the heck. I'm willing to ride! Add it to the American Endurance Ride Conference Ride Calendar. Also, add it to the Endurance Net event calendar as well.
