...Racial segregation is the separation of different racial group in daily life, such as eating in a restaurant, drinking from a water fountain, using a washroom, attending school, going to the movies, or in the rental or purchase of a home.Principles to Guide Housing Policy at the Beginning of the Millennium, Michael Schill & Susan Wachter, Cityscape Segregation may be mandated by law or exist through social norms. Segregation may be maintained by means ranging from discrimination in hiring and in the rental and sale of housing to certain races to vigilante violence (such as lynchings, e.g.) Generally, a situation that arises when members of different races mutually prefer to associate and do business with members of their own race would usually be described as separation or de facto separation of the races rather than segregation. In the United States, legal segregation was required in some states and came with "anti-miscegenation laws" (prohibitions against interracial marriage). There were laws passed against segregation in the USA in the 1960s. It was a wonderful system to ensure that Races did not partake in racial violence, it reduced the number of racial violence between races by separating them in having zones. but some people complained that other sides were better from them all not being equal. they used separate but equal and it wasn't always equal. If they would have made it truly equal and equality for everyone then it would have worked. |

Could someone who believes in I don't just mean white people
who don't like Obama. I mean a
person of any race who
believes that racial
segregation or socialising and
marrying only within your own
racial group is the way to go.
I want to understand why you
would feel that way or what
benefits you think living like
this has for you and for
society.I don't agree with it
but I want to understand more.

I think the white race over the years is just more greedy than others as many societies were happy on their own and were self sufficient whereas white people wanted explore, trade and enslave. just an idea.. |

Are there voluntary ethnic and Are there any examples of
voluntary ethnic and racial
segregation in Toronto? What?
Where? How? Why?
I understand the world is - at
the moment - incapable of
achieving zero discrimination
and segregation; that Toronto
is not the only city that may
display examples of such.
However, I am most interested
in how voluntary ethnic and
racial segregation is
displayed in Toronto to
analyze how it differs from
other cities. I want to
generate a list of thoughts
flowing through my head about
the factors and reasons of
segregation, voluntarily or
not, through your answers and
opinions about how much you
believe Toronto indirectly
display these actions. Public
opinion would greatly
contribute to my
understandings and studies.
Thanks!

You better believe it ! Blacks are still second class. And when the Asians started migrating, the whites got very nasty. Neither people deserved it, because in general they don't bother the whites,in fact the Asians brought with them billions of dollars to invest in Canada. Racism is there, they just hide it well. |
