punctuation?
So I am terrible at
punctuation lol nad i wrote
this poem...can someone help
me out here? ty in advance "I
know of tomorrows closure; the
ending of these arms that
envelope me at this moment.
You sleep with your hand
carressing my shoulder as I
stare through the dark of
midnight at your face so
boldly shown. I will not
blink, I will not move. I fear
if I appear alive, what I am
savoring will come to an end.
The only thing to benefit from
is to intensify the
sensitivity of my body so I
can memorize every spot your
fingertips brushed apon. Are
these lips mine? Is the warmth
you are giving off by accident
or intention? I only hope
while I brush my lips against
yours, attempting to have you
feel the passion I possess
only for you. As I kiss, your
hand brushes my face; treating
it so soft and fragile and all
I can do is close my eyes and
feel beautiful and adored.
Tell me not to leave, tell me
you need me, tell me you are
enthralled by any of my
actions."

The poet uses his own punctuation. Here is an example it might give you some ideas: Know of tomorrow's closure: the ending of these arms that envelope me at this moment. You sleep, with your hand carressing my shoulder, as I stare through the dark of midnight at your face so boldly shown. I will not blink; I will not move. I fear if I appear alive, what I am savoring will come to an end. The only thing to benefit from is to intensify the sensitivity of my body; so I can memorize every spot your fingertips brushed apon. Are these lips mine? Is the warmth you are giving off by accident, or intention? I only hope while I brush my lips against yours, attempting to have you feel the passion I possess only for you. As I kiss, your hand brushes my face; treating it so soft and fragile, And all I can do is close my eyes and feel beautiful and adored. Tell me not to leave; Tell me you need me; Tell me you are enthralled by any of my actions. |

What is the rule regarding If I have a section of text
that concludes with a word or
phrase that is italicized,
does the punctuation (say a
period and quotation marks)
after the phrase get
italicized too? Or what if an
entire quote is in italics,
say because it is in another
language, do the quotation
marks before it get italicized
too?

Punctuation does not get italicized unless it is within the italicized section that you are quoting. If it was italicized in the original, you italicize it when you quote it; otherwise not. |

What are some rules for What are some rules for

Here is a website that is an excellent resource for you. Read over the section on quotation marks. In general, if a comma or period is your ending punctuation, then those will go inside the end quotation marks if you are in the U.S. The rules vary for other ending punctuation and for the British Isles.
