My doctor told me that when I made the choice to switch from birth control pills to Metformin that I would probably lose weight. However, if you're trying to prevent conception you'll need to stay on the BC pills. One other way I've seen work is a low GI diet. There are several great books on this. Good luck. One other thing you might do is join the forum at www.soulcysters.net - there are girls like us on there and lots of great info and discussions. |

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, How I was just told last week that
I have Polycystic Ovary
Syndrome. I read online all
the symptoms, risks, bla bla
bla..
But I want to hear from a real
person.
Do you have it? Do you know
someone who does?
How has it affected your life?
I apparently have had it for 5
years and never did anything
to help it out.
They found 3 - 10 centimeter
cysts.. But they don't hurt..
The dr was surprised that I
never complained before.

I have it. Have had it for 2 years now. The symptoms suck. You gain weight you can get facial hair, you get really bad acne and dark spots all over your body. You dont get your periods and it makes it hard to have kids. It can lead to high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. And you can get anxiety attacks and depression But I am fortunate enough to be able to control it the way I do. I have a very strict diet and exercise routine. I eat foods that would probably make people gag. LOL. I do tons of research and practice alternative natural treatments. So I dont really have any of these symptoms. But if you do get them, I heard that laser treatment and this face cream, tri-luma (i think thats what its called), treats the spots and unwanted hair. The best option for you, is to make sure you eat a very strict diet and keep the weight off. Getting on a birth control will help you before it gets worse. I take them and it really balances every thing out. If you need some tips or a list of foods that are good for people with pcos or even exercise routines let me know. Just be active and dont give up. Some people give up before trying. And like I said some people have it much worse then what we may have it. Again let me know if you need any info or advice! :-) |
