History
Human physiology dates back to at least 420 B.C. and the time of Hippocrates, Physiology - History of physiology, Branches of physiology the father of medicine. The critical thinking of Aristotle and his emphasis on the relationship between structure and function marked the beginning of physiology in Ancient Greece, while Claudius Galenus (c. 126-199 A.D.), known as Galen, was the first to use experiments to probe the function of the body. Galen was the founder of experimental physiology. Thoracic Surgery Clinics: Historical Perspectives of Thoracic Anatomy, Stanley C. Fell and F. Griffith Pearson The ancient Indian books of Ayurveda, the Sushruta Samhita and Charaka Samhita, also had descriptions on human anatomy and physiology. The medical world moved on from Galvanism only with the appearance of Andreas Vesalius and William Harvey. How do I find a really good I am having problem in my
college physiology class and
need help with some quizzes
and homework. I was hoping to
find someone willing to help
me, who really knows a lot
about physiology. Any ideas
were to find a tutor and/or
help?

I would ask one of the professors if they had a student they would recommend. Most professors will be able to think of one that would be a good tutor, and then you just need to contact them and see if they will tutor you. This is very useful to do, because they will often provide names for people who have taken the class already, so they should be better equiped to help you out. |

What is the difference between I really would like work in
biomedical research one day
but the uni I want to go to
does not offer combined
degrees with biomedical
science. I also want to do a
business paper so I can only
combine it with bachelor of
science. I'm thinking of
either majoring in physiology
or biological sciences but I
don't know what the difference
is. Which one is better if I
want to do biomedical
research?

Physiology studies the mechanical, physical, and biochemical processes of living organisms by attempting to understand how all of the structures function as a whole. The theme of "structure to function" is central to biology. Physiological studies have traditionally been divided into plant physiology and animal physiology, but the principles of physiology are universal, no matter what particular organism is being studied. For example, what is learned about the physiology of yeast cells can also apply to human cells. The field of animal physiology extends the tools and methods of human physiology to non-human species. Plant physiology also borrows techniques from both fields. Anatomy is an important branch of physiology and considers how organ systems in animals, such as the nervous, immune, endocrine, respiratory, and circulatory systems, function and interact. The study of these systems is shared with medically oriented disciplines such as neurology and immunology. biological science is the science that studies living organisms. Both are nearly the same things BUt to me Physiology will remain priority.( its the best) |
