...Phenethylamine (PEA) is a natural monoamine alkaloid, trace amine, and psychoactive drug with stimulant effects. In the mammalian central nervous system, phenethylamine is believed to function as a neuromodulator or neurotransmitter. It is biosynthesized from the amino acid phenylalanine by enzymatic decarboxylation. Besides mammals, phenethylamine is found in many other organisms and foods such as chocolate, especially after microbial fermentation. It is sold as a dietary supplement for purported mood and weight loss-related therapeutic benefits; however, orally ingested phenethylamine is usually inactive on account of extensive first-pass metabolism by monoamine oxidase (MAO) into phenylacetic acid, preventing significant concentrations from reaching the brain. What are some natural sources Phenethylamine (C8H11N) ,
sometimes known as PEA is
supposedly found in several
different foods.
From Wikipedia:
"Phenethylamine is a natural
compound biosynthesized from
the amino acid phenylalanine
by enzymatic decarboxylation.
It is also found in many foods
such as chocolate, especially
after microbial fermentation.
It has been suggested that
phenethylamine from food may
have psychoactive effects in
sufficient quantities.
However, it is quickly
metabolized by the enzyme
MAO-B, preventing significant
concentrations from reaching
the brain."
The only natural sources of
PEA that I know of are
chocolate, cheese, salami, and
soy sauce. It would be a big
help if I could find out any
others you know about.
This is for a chemistry
project, and I need to bring
at least 3 "physical
examples". I can easily bring
a chocolate bar, but I'd like
something better than cheese,
salami, or soy sauce for the
other two.
Thanks in advance!
Kelsey
@ Disco Stu: I'm not sure what
you're trying to say. I'm a
sophomore in high school and
in chemistry class we're doing
projects on different
compounds. Mine is
phenethylamine, and as part of
my project (make a model,
etc.) I have to show some
examples (things it occurs in
etc.). Phenethylamine is in
chocolate, so I'm bringing a
chocolate bar, but I need two
more.

Certain cacti contain mescaline a natural source of phenethylamine. Tea made from the seeds of the peyote cactus flower contain mescaline. You could bring small black seeds. It's easy to bring to school. I added the web site. |

Pharmaceutical Medicine okay everywhere i have
shearched and looked which is
everywhere google wikipedia
and msn and dogpile all the
search engines but all i can
find is that drugs containing
Phenethylamine and methoxy are
called 2c-e or 2c-b and yes i
know there are more i know
about the whole 2c family what
this question is actually
asking is if someone can write
me a list or direct me to a
site that tell actual
medicines or drugs containing
Phenethylamine and methoxy,
what the actual names of the
medicine's are not 2c-e or
2c-b but the actual
pharmaceutical name of
medicines containing
Phenethylamine and Methoxy if
someone can help me with this
that would be so amzing thank
you for your time

You are treading on thin ice here as most of these materials are illegal in many countries and your wording indicates you are not fluent in either English or chemistry or both. LSD or an anonymous Not that it matters at this
point, but I took like five
blotter hits yesterday of some
unkown substance alleged to be
LSD and had a great experience
overall.
I felt as if I were able to
follow a linear thought
process but had a difficult
time carrying out
conversations with my brother
as we became more and more
rapped up in our own
cognition.
I guess that is pretty vague
and could very well describe
the distorted thought patterns
under the influence of ANY
drug....
As for the visuals I had all
types of fractal imagery, most
notably a paisley pattern
which was all over the rugs.
The bed was sort of wavy but
it was sublte more distortions
came from viewing faces on the
television.
I would say the trip started
off with a pleasant body high
and fits of uncontrollable
giggles, but as the experience
persisted I became more and
more aware of a gut wrenching,
tight feeling in my adomine
which made it extremely hard
to get comfortable. Also, some
type of feeling in the mouth
having to do with the feel of
saliva but I can't put my
tongue on it.
As for the after effects, I
have some residual visual
effects, if I concentrate I
can see the paisley on the
rugs faintly and everything is
most deffinitely more vibrant
and colorful that it was
yesterday.
This was my first experience
with psychadelics of any type
and I had a real mind numbing
that I am still trying to make
coherent sense of. Though that
might be futile and I will
most likely leave it to the
ineffable.
I appreciate whoever answers
taking the time to read my
long description my thoughts
are all over the place this
morning.

Well, you can't fit anything on blotter besides LSD in an active amount - this is because LSD is so potent, active at 25 micrograms. So it wasn't some phenethylamine. |
