How do I get rid of Yahoo I've never visited Yahoo
Personals web page, I don't
have an account and I'm not
interested at all in this
service. Nevertheless, every
time I open Yahoo Messenger an
alert pops-out saying I have
over a hundred messages
waiting for me at Yahoo
Personals. How do I get rid of
that annoying pop-up?
PS: I've already tried
disabling it from
Preferences/Alerts&Sounds and
it didn't work.

I have the same problem right now. From what I saw on other questions (there are quite a few questions about this topic), Yahoo said it's a glitch that they're currently working on. Hopefully it should be gone in a few days. I've had this for a few weeks now and I've already done everything I can think of from turning off alerts to reinstalling messenger but nothing worked. It is annoying plus its embarrassing when I open my YM at school. I don't want people to think I'm a Yahoo personals addict lol. So I just use the messenger in Yahoo Mail when I'm in public. I really hope this can be fixed soon. |

How do I stop Yahoo Personals I cannot figure out a way to
get rid of this stupid spam
that Yahoo seems to have added
to their Messenger product...
I even searched and found the
opt out page yet I still get
this notification which says I
have 64 messages in my Yahoo
Personals inbox. When i click
on it the services asks me to
subscribe. I just want this
thing to go away!

Open the preferences from your main messenger window by clicking "Messenger > Preferences" then "Alerts & Sounds" from the left panel. On the right look for "I receive a personals alert" and un check those 3 options for dialog box, sound, and the system tray icon. Hit apply then OK.
