What is cheapest and easiest We know trains and buses might
work but we need it to be
fairly easy. We will have
luggage and would rather pay a
little higher price than be
too difficult.

Passau is a town in the so called "3-Länder-Eck", which means it is locted right at the border between of 3 countries, namely Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. It also lies in the governmental district of Lower Bavaria. As I have pointed out in another question, "Bavarian" is, first and formost, not a language, but a dialect. An accent of the German language. Secondly, there is not just "Bavarian". There are numerous dialect being spoken, and they are all "Bavarian". If your friend was born and grew up in the area, chances are he is talking some sort of Lower Bavarian accent. Did your friend grow up there? Or did he move ther for his studies? If he just moved there from somewher else, I guess he is talking a dialect of wherever he came from, not the one from the Passau-area. He German University system does not have that "good school, bad school" thing going on, or not that much. There are schools that are said to be tough or good, but it is not really important where you study. (Correct me if I'm wrong in the field of law, but that's my experience - I'm not studying law, though) "Bastian" is a short form of "Sebastian", and yes, that is a popular name, and "Bastian" the popular abbreviation. Tobias is also a popular name, though not as much as Sebastian. How long does it take to get there? I don't know, but Map24.com also offers maps of Europe, so you might want to check there and see what they say. |
