If McCain was born in 1936 andCongress did not passlegislation about the PanamaCanal Zone citizenship?
until 1953, doesn't that mean that McCain was not BORN a citizen but later legislation made it possible to be a citizen? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P anama_Canal_Zone Ok folks...the children born on military bases law did not happen until 1937. So we shall retire that argument.
Title 8 law (It was retroactive) : (a) Any person born in the Canal Zone on or after February 26, 1904, and whether before or after the effective date of this chapter, whose father or mother or both at the time of the birth of such person was or is a citizen of the United States, is declared to be a citizen of the United States. (b) Any person born in the Republic of Panama on or after February 26, 1904, and whether before or after the effective date of this chapter, whose father or mother or both at the time of the birth of such person was or is a citizen of the United States employed by the Government of the United States or by the Panama Railroad Company, or its successor in title, is declared to be a citizen of the United States. <
I have heard Chinese troopsare at the Panama Canal Zoneare they hired as guards forthe canal?
It's 'pose to be 15,000 and that's a ton to guard it and why would Panama not do it themselves? Great answers and thanks. Did not know they would be building another one. Funny about the kilos.
After the US ceded the canal, the operation and maintenance contract went to China. They are also going to construct a 3rd canal that will handle the super tankers as well as US aircraft carriers in the Nimitz class and beyond. Though the US may never send such vessels through in order to make positions unknown. Rememver too that the Chinese use many of these troops for operations and maintenance. 15,000 really isn't so many. The concern though might be if you knew of the number of tanks, planes, artillery and rockets. Numbers of men are nothing. It is the weapons that count.
Was it stupid for formerpresidents to give up Panamacanal Zone?
I have also heard there are 15,000 Chinese troops there, if true way? Also the zone seemed like a great place to control a lot of immigration.
There was no way to control immigration from there, its not even on our border. We only had a 99 year lease there, our lease was up and not too surprisingly Panama wanted its land back. I haven't heard anything reliable about Chinese troops there.
