What are the top 3 bestcolleges for music business, production and other generalmusic majors?
I know of Berklee up in Boston MA but if I dont get into that i want to have a couple backups so are there any other colleges that have classes on Music Production and Music Business? I have looked at a couple other schools but they were more dedicated to instruments and other topics like music therapy. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't know about the top three but I here's a few good ones I know and a few I found: Mainly Music Schools Juilliard (New York) Jacobs School of Music (Indiana) Curtis Institute of Music (Pennsylvania) Mainly Art Schools (with music) Pratt Institute (New York) Columbia Uni, School of the Arts (New York) Cooper Union School of Art (New York) Carnegie Mellon's College of Fine Arts (Pennsylvania) California Institute of the Arts (California)

What other genre of music doyou think provides the bestsamples for hip hop?
Jazz? Funk? Soul? Rock? Classical? Hungarian folk music? Other? Do you also listen to the genre that you chose?
I think funk and rock have been the originals as far as number of samples. This is really hard to answer though, because it just depends on the producer and the track. For example, I love to hear jazz samples and the sound of a double bass on a rap track, but that doesn't necessarily mean I want to hear Dre make a beat like that for 50. Classical samples can work really well too if done right. But take, eg I Can by Nas (I know I'm going to get shyt for saying this) - I really like that song, but I feel that Beethoven sample sounds kind of clumsily stuck on. It doesn't really work for me. Jazz and soul probably are my favourites. But it really does depend on who's doing it and how. And yes, I do listen to those genres., although I'm not a knowledgable about jazz as I'd like to be.
