Are police officer pensions, health and other benefitsgreat after 25 years ofservice?
Hi all! I'm planning on becoming a police officer and I'm already in the process of really researching the career out from top to bottom. Are police officer pensions and benefits great after 25 years of service? In general, in today's dollars and excluding future inflation, could I expect to get at least $2,500 per month after retirement in net pay plus great health and other benefits? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Well I can tell you this, at the federal level it is outstanding, not sure about the local and state level. Economists believe that law enforcement is the only true recession proof career! America needs good people because we have some trying times ahead. The best advice I can give you regarding retirement is contribute heavily to your 401K!
What are the healthimplications of eating amassive steak every other dayfor 8 weeks?
I'm at uni, I've started going to the gym every other day and having a maaassive (700g) steak afterwards and I intend to continue for 8 weeks any health implications? I really like steak.
Everything has side effects. However, if it is done in moderation, then it should be ok. Health implications of excessive protein intake:- 1. If you have pre-existing kidney disease, this may accelerate its progression. 2. Large amounts of animal food can result in greater fat intake. If you don't use this fat as energy, then it will be stored and you will therefore "grow fatter". 3. It increases how much fluid you need to drink 4. You're full with this huge protein intake, so you are no longer interested in eating other valuable food (eg fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates, fibre etc) 5. There is a school of thought that excessive protein in the diet can increase your chances of getting cancer. You mention you go to the gym, presumably this will increase your energy expenditure. Research shows that a relative high carbohydrate diet is required for athletes. So, if you are on a high protein diet, you may eat less carbohydrates. This leads to a lack of many essential nutrients in your diet. In the long term, this sort of high protein, low carbohydrates diet will lead to reduced energy levels, impairment of performance, and eventually loss of muscle mass.
