Here, we make a futile and stupid attempt to educate everybody, whether they want an education or not. In other countries, they value education more, because if you don't pursue it, they stop educating you and you have to take a menial job and suffer. Parents don't want that for their children and they push them. Here, when someone doesn't want an education, we force them to stay in school with compulsory education and we give them the "No Child Left Behind" treatment. We keep their sorry butt in school and let them drag down the whole educational system. The parents don't have to take the responsibility to make their kid rise to challenges. As a result, our school systems and teachers are swamped with trying to produce even mediocre results from a population that has no reason to care or to try. Pick a developed country in the world, and its educational system will be better than ours, because here our lawyers have determined that we have to try to save people from themselves. |

Daycare, Tutoring, even writing books or educational materials for schools. Principle, dean, or other administrative duties relating to education. School counselors typically seem to love their jobs, think about that one. It does Not require a psychology degree, just a natural way with children and adolescents. My mother has been a teacher for 30 years and these are a few examples she's given me. |

It depends a lot on what your area of specialty is. If it's math or science, there are a lot of private industry jobs which could use your skills. If it's in the liberal arts area, consider what a graduate of one of those areas without the education connection might do. Also, every school district on the planet needs willing substitute teachers: if you can do that it will help you and them. School systems often look at their "reserve" teacher ranks to fill long-term or permanent openings. If you are still in college and just working on your teaching credential, then you should prepare a fallback option if you are truly worried about finding a job. In any case, you should check with the career placement office of your college or university for help. |
