What is there to do in Osaka I am going to Osaka in two
weeks and I was wondering what
there is to do in Osaka at
night that doesn't involve
clubbing or going to a bar and
getting drunk? Thanks!

Lots of stuff to do. Especially if the weather's nice. You could just walk around Namba, Shinsaibashi or Umeda and look at all of the interesting people. You could go to Universal Studios or the promenade at the entrance. Big ferris wheel at Hep Plaza near Umeda. Lots of shopping arcades in both the Namba and Umeda areas. Go to the Kaiyuukan (Aquarium) to see some fishes or more shopping. There's Korean Town for some good restaurants. Even if you don't like drinking, you could probably find a few clubs with live music playing every Friday or Saturday night. You can still go to a club even though you don't want to drink. Osaka Castle is lit up at night. There are even some night cruises that take you around to see the skyline from Osaka Bay. All kinds of fun things. Search Kansai Flea Market or Kansai Time Out for listings of upcoming events. |

Where are good and reasonably I may be traveling to Osaka
and Tokyo soon, but I will be
going by myself, so there's no
one to split hotel costs with.
Do you have any
recommendations for good,
cheap places to stay in these
areas? Thanks!
Legitimate answers only,
please.

There is a hotel chain called Toyoko Inn. I stayed there and liked it. It is 6,000 yen or $50. |

What is the easiest way to use 青春18 the tickets where
you have an all day pass that
you can only use on JR. How do
I use them to get from Tokyo
to Osaka? Can I use an
overnight bus?

You can't use the Seishun 18 tickets on JR buses, only on non-express JR trains. If you take (primarily) the Rapid trains on the JR Tokaido line, you can get from Tokyo Station to Osaka Station in about 9 hours. For example: 07:40 TOKYO JR Tokaido Line 09:30 09:37 ATAMI JR Tokaido Line 11:19 11:29 SHIMADA JR Tokaido Line 12:13 12:28 HAMAMATSU JR Tokaido Line 13:01 13:07 TOYOHASHIJR Tokaido Line 14:31 14:40 OGAKI JR Tokaido Line 15:17 15:19 MAIBARA JR Special Rapid Service 16:12 16:14 KYOTO JR Special Rapid Service 16:43 OSAKA Good luck! |
