I would say that your best bet is to take any courses that you can that will give you college credit. At my high school, that meant taking AP classes (advanced placement), or a couple of other classes where the school had agreements with local colleges. In my state (NC) there is also something called "dual enrollment" where you can attend a local community college for free (except for the cost of books) while you are still in high school. My last year I only had to go to school for 1/2 a day, and went to the local CC the other half (it was great!). To particularly get you prepped for nursing, I would say to take Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, and health sciences courses that your school offers. Good luck! |

I don't know that there would be any online cna programs that are accredited within the industry. One really needs to practice their cna skills in a hands-on environment such as transfers, hoister lifts and patient safety as you mentioned. Please steer clear from the online, for profit schools such as penn foster and stratford career. Former students posted complaints at this site: http://www.ripoffreport.com and search 'penn foster' or such. Former students of university of phoenix, another online, for profit school started: http://www.uopsucks.com I would stick with the county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course) and forgo private expensive career schools, just a word to the wise. US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/un iv |
