Questions/Answers
nursing degree?
If you go to school to get a nursing degree do you have to work on dead bodies?
If you work in a hospital you will! It is not always a common occurrence, but it does happen. The real question is will you be able to handle the sight of blood, feces, open sores??? As a nurse these were harder for me to get used to than the thought of taking care of someone who was deceased.
Getting a nursing degree inthe state I live then movingout of state for a job. Howdoes this work?
I am from Florida and want to get a nursing degree in Florida. Then I want to get a job in Colorado. Must I retake the medical exame in Colorado even though I will have passed the exam in Florida. I am thinking baesd on remembering being told this. Thats The nursing exam differs from state to state or the rukes in the medical field are different in other other stats. Some states may have the same rules. If anyone can help me out I would appriciate this. Someone who has done what I am trying to do would be best to answer my questions if possible.
You didn't mention whether you were taking the LPN or RN course work. Colorado has a different application for each. Once you pass the state nursing board and get licensed in FL, you can be endorsed as an RN to practice in Colorado by filling out an application, and paying the fee. Most states honor nursing boards in other states with reciprocity (thanks to the nursing shortage.) Links for more information on Colorado Nursing Board. Good luck.
What is the difference betweenhaving an associates than abachelors degree for nursing?
Here is the deal, I am trying to pursue a degree in nursing at the moment. I don't want to be a nurse for the rest of my life. I plan on getting another degree in biopsychology. So the nursing degree is just a stepping stone for me. So what is the difference in the way I can use these degrees? Will I make less money with an associates degree? Or is it just that I can't apply for nursing supervising positions? If I did the associates degree, I would be saving 7,000 and would be finished a semester earlier. I hope you shed some light on this situation. It will be truely appreciated.
Nurses with a BS make more than those with an ASN. An associates degree is typically what most registered nurses (RNs) have. You only need a BS in nursing if you plan on being a supervisor and getting into the management side of nursing. Typically supervisors have a BS. If nursing is a stepping stone on your way to becoming a psychologist then a BS in nursing is unnecessary. Get a BS in psych and start working toward your terminal objective.
