anti-virus Norton Internet
Security 2007. I would like to
remove it since subscription

However, I have heard that
removing Norton can crash a
pc. Any suggestions on how to
do this without harming pc?

Be sure to use the uninstall instructions from Symantec, the creators of Norton - I made the mistake of uninstalling using the Control Panel once, and it kept me off the internet. http://symantec.pcperformancet ools.com/how-to-uninstall-nort on-internet-security.html |

utilities but get all of the
huge and costly group of
things on Norton anti-virus.

Use Symantec's tool from http://service1.symantec.com/S upport/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/200 5033108162039 The uninstaller leaves stuff behind, but this should clear everything. Don't keep anything of the Norton software: it can all be replaced and anything will continue to break your computer. Don't use the Yahoo! stuff, that is Norton too, and Microsoft Live OneCare is terrible. You can do better for free; get these: Avira: http://www.free-av.com/ Spyware Terminator (turn off web security guard): http://www.spywareterminator.c om/ Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.or g/ (use immunise feature) Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.co m/ Comodo: http://comodofirewall.notlong. com/ (turn off defense+ to see fewer alerts) Then get these: http://www.kessels.com/JkDefra g/ http://www.ccleaner.com/ http://heidi.ie/eraser/ http://www.iobit.com/ to replace the utilities bit. |
