Norse Paganism?
I want to convert to being a
Norse Pagan, but don't now
exactly what to do. I do know
that Norse Paganism is largely
similar, if not interchangable
with Norse Mythology.
I do know the Gods.
Aesir, Vanir, Jotnar/Jotun,
Einherjar are fallen warriors,
etc.
But shouldn't such a religion
have some sort of scriptures
to follow? Would these be
Snorri Sturlson's Eddas and
Sagas? If so where can I find
such scriptures. Or is Norse
Paganism just some sort of
make-it-up-as-you-go-along
religion. I know there are
formalized holidays and a
language, alphabet,
nomenclature. But can someone
give me like the 'official'
site for Asatru?
asatru-alliance doesn't help.
If anyone has any ideas on how
I can get a source to start my
worship that would be great.
The Asatru site really only
has two poems, the Gods, and
the Runes, and Holidays.
I didn't mean convert meaning
have some sort of priest
formally convert me to it. I
meant go from Atheism to
Paganism, I'm not at all
Christian, no offense to all
of the Christians, but that
religion makes less sense than
Islam.

Pickup a copy of Exploring the Northern Tradition by Galina Krasskova and Teutonic Religion by Kveldulf Gundarsson (it's being reissued). Hit the websites that talk about reconstruction heathenism. http://www.irminsul.org http://www.asatru-u.org/beginn er/asau-beginner-outline.htm http://www.wyrdwords.vispa.com /heathenry/index.html You can find a lot of the lore here: http://www.northvegr.org/main. php www.thetroth.org Heathenism isn't a make-it-up religion. Email with questions if you'd like. I've been in heathenism for 14 years and I'm a gythia. Asatru Alliance can be problematic, yes. |

Norse Paganism Is there Is there anyone who can talk
to me more on a personal level
about Norse paganism , or
paganism in general? I have so
many questions and I feel as
though I am being shunned out
by others. Would help to speak
with someone who could
understand or at least try.

Try looking up "Asatru" - that's the name of Norse-based neo-paganism practiced today. |

Is it possible to meld Celtic Celtic Pagans-
Do you ever meld the Celtic
and Norse pantheons? If so,
how? I'm looking for people's
opinions and experiences.
Thank you!

Technically you could.... Read HR Ellis Davison's Pagan Myths and Symbols of Northern Europe. She compares and contrasts the two cultures acadmically through archeology. That would really answer the question in far more detail then I could since I'm not super versed in Celt. |
