What is the prduct producedwhen a non-metal burns in air?
Also, what is the product produced when the product of the burnt non-metal combines with water? Thanks! :))
Whenever a non metal burns in air, it gives the oxide which with water gives the respective acids. Like: Sulphur gives sulphur dioxide when burnt in air and this when dissolved in water gives sulphurous acid.
How to determin if an unknowenelement is a metal, non-metalor metalloid?
What are four physical properties that can be used to determin if an unknowen element is metal, non-metal or metalloid?
1 luster- metals have luster also known as the shinyness of the element 2 malleable- metals are malleable or the ability to be flatened without shatering (to test hit with a nail and hammer and if there a dent it metal if it shaters it not) 3 conductivity- metals conduct electricity and non metals dont, and a metaloid can do eather 4 heat- metals conduct heat beter so if it conducts heat its a metal (to test put hlaf of element into ice cold or hot water and if u can feal the heat or coldness when holding it outside the water it a metal if not its a nonmetal or metalloid can do both) a metaloid could have some of each proporties so its best to do all tests and if it has properties of nonmetals and metals its a metaloid
How is AlCl3 covalent if it isbetween a metal and anon-metal?
Isn't a bond between a metal and non-metal ionic?
Depending on what sort of level you're asking this question at, you may appreciate that all bonds are covalent to some degree, as per MO theory. Typically metal-non metal bonds are less covalent than non metal-non metal, but there is still some sharing of the electrons.
