Nitrogen,,,?
why is it important? what is it used for? how ar the properties of nitrogen linked to it's uses? THANKYYOOOOOU XD
It's used as a fertilizer, in explosives and makes up most of our atmospheric gas. In liquid form it can be used to super cool stuff and even freeze off skin problems.
How is it possible fornitrogen fixiation to takeplace inside a termites gut?
Nitrogen gas in the termite gut comes from swallowed air =. However nitrogen fixation can only occur in anaerobic conditions, since the enzyme responsible for converting nitrogen gas to ammonia is inhibited by oxygen.
Anaerobic nitrogen-fixing bacteria in their digestive tract makes this possible.
How do plants obtain thenitrogen they need?
How do herbivores obtain the nitrogen they need? What about other animals? Also, how does nitrogen return to the atmosphere? What would be the impact on the nitrogen cycle if there were a decrease in decomposition in a given ecosystem?
plants can only absorb nitrogen in the form of ammonium or nitrate ions, while consumers get their nitrogen by eating other organism.. the ammonium and nitrate ions are in the soil because of nitrogen fixation.this is when atmospheric nitrogen is converted to ammonium or nitrate ions by nitrogen fixing bacteria. denitrifiaction is when nitrates are turned back into the atmospheric nitrogen by bacteria.this only happens in the absence of oxygen. =)
