Why is Neil Gaiman so oddly Why is Neil Gaiman so oddly
obsessed with pandas? Where
did this oddity come from? Or
start?
|

Didn't know he was obsessed. I assume Gaiman's interest in pandas come from his experiences in China and the Chengdu preserve, where he apparently had a good time. There's a list on Amazon that Neil put together of 10 great books to read. The first is his "Anansi Boys" but the rest are books not written by him that he recommends. Give it a try! (Oh, and if you haven't read the "His Dark Materials" trilogy, try that, too.) http://www.amazon.com/gp/richp ub/syltguides/fullview/1DVJXGX 0Z9UBA/ref=cm_syt_dtpa_f_1_rds sss0?pf_rd_p=253457301&pf_rd_s =sylt-center&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd _i=0380977788&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIK X0DER&pf_rd_r=1CFRV28Z204GGSPZ ANQW |

What is the best Neil Gaiman I haven't read comics since I
was a kid but I've heard that
Neil Gaiman's Sandman series
is fantastic. The problem is,
I'm not sure where to begin.
My local library has the first
volume "Preludes and
Nocturnes" in stock but I
heard that's actually the
weakest volume.
Suggestions?

Start with the begining it introduces all the characters and you kind of need it to understand what's going on...besides I *loved* Preludes and Nocturnes. It's got John Constantine in it. :) My favorite volumes are the one where Dream and Delerium go looking for Destruction and the one where the Corinthian gets loose. Sandman is probably one of the most badass comic books I've ever read in my life and will always be my favorite. Make sure you start with Preludes and Nocturnes...the only one that I thought kind of sucked was Dream Country, but it introduced Orpheus so it's kind of critical too. |
