It is possible to make reservations-in fact, the only way to make reservations is directly with the Vatican-NO private tour groups offer tours of the necropolis-"scavi"-under St. Peter's. Here's what you should do: Go to www.vatican.va click on "information"; scroll down page to "Visits to the Vatican Necropolis"-and send an email; the Vatican has reputation for not answering faxes. We sent an email; it took a week to get an initial response, which was basically, "we got your request". It then took another week, and we got a confirmation email, which required us to pay in full in advance, by credit card. All of this was done by email. I hope this helps, and I hope you get to take the tour; it was amazing. |

Given: total Distance D = 28 km total time = 8 hr Speed of litter Vl = 2 kph Speed of chariot Vc = 8 kph let... Dl =distance on litter Dc =distance on chariot Tl =time on litter Tc =time on chariot D = Dl + Dc = 28 T = Tl + Tc = 8 V = D/T D= VT 28 = Vl*Tl + Vc*Tc 28 = 2Tl + 8Tc But Tc = 8 - Tl 28 = 2Tl + 8(8-Tl) 28 = 2Tl + 64 - 8Tl 8Tl - 2 Tl = 64-28 6Tl = 36 Tl = 6 hours Tc = 8 - 6 = 2hours Dl = Vl* Tl = 2*6 = 12 km Dc = Vc*Tc = 8*2 = 16 km |
