Education ·The Nazis used schools to indoctrinate the young ·They laid down what was to be taught and placed a special emphasis on the subjects they considered suitable in producing “Ideal Nazis” ·History – To show how successful the Nazis had been ·Biology – To explain Nazi racial beliefs ·Geography – Emphasised the harshness of the Treaty of Versailles ·Maths – Bombing Jewish Ghettos ·Physics – Weapon making ·Time given to PE trebled in the 1930s ·Race Studies and ideology appeared on the timetable as Nazi beliefs were taught as accepted facts ·Education for boys and girls was different ·A greater emphasis was placed on domestic science and other subjects suitable for motherhood in girls schools ·In the classroom Nazi ideas were promoted by using textbooks that had been rewritten to conform to Nazi beliefs ·A mixture of propaganda and intimidation led to 97% of teachers becoming members of the National Socialist Teachers League ·Major message that was continually repeated was the supremacy of the Aryan (Germanic/North European) race and the inferiority of the blacks, Eastern Europeans and Jews |

Businessmen=capitalists. Oncoming danger of communism. Nazi party=rising power, want to take over, violent, political turmoil, & anti-communist. Capitalists are scared of communists and basically want to support Hitler. I don't know what the church did. |

Nazi Party?
Could anything have been done
to stop the Nazis or were they
merely seen as another
political fringe party?

The world stood on the side lines while the Nazi Party festered and grew. The French were still debating whether or not Hitler was a real threat when their answer came marching into Paris wearing Swastika arm bands. Over 60 million people perished ending this madness in the final chapter. Because we can't see the future, it is very difficult to be pro-active in such situations. Today, America is being pro-active in trying to deal with yet another ideology of hatred and world domination - and, with a few exceptions, we are essentially alone in our efforts. |
