Questions/Answers
Why is calling Bush or Obama aNazi legal free speech, butcalling your neighbor a Naziis illegal defamation?
In other words, lets say I printed a news article calling you a Nazi and saying that your views were comparable to Nazi policies. Isn't that considered libel and defamatory? So then, why is it considered free speech to do the same thing to political figures?
Generally, a public official can only prevail on this type of claim if the statement is made despite knowing it to be false or with reckless disregard for the truth (malice). The Supreme Court announced the actual malice standard which has to be met before reports about public officials or public figures can be considered to be defamation. It is an extremely high burden of proof on the plaintiff - as a public official - to establish actual malice. This standard comes from the 1964 decision New York Times Co. v. Sullivan.
What was hitler and the nazigoverment view on the formergermany royal court andfamily?
I was wondering during hitler and the nazi goverment did he ever make a refference to the former Kaiser empire? Also did any former german royals work for the new nazi goverment! 0-0 What was the common view?
They had no time for them as rulers. But several of the German Nobility and Royal houses were enthusiastic nazis. Prince 'AuWi' (AUgust Wilhelm) for example. The 'Valkyrie' plotters were a godsend to the nobility as they could after 1945 shelter under their name.
What is the significance of ablue nazi swastika armband?
My grandfather brought it back from WW2 and it is baby blue. I have been unable to find what the significance or relevancy of such a Nazi Swastika anywhere on the internet. It looks exactly like the regular red ones except it is blue. Thank you for your answers!
The blue armband in the WW2 Germany's armed forces organisation probably identified the Wasserschutzpolizei, a branch of the ORPO (Ordnung Polizei), the State's police of the Nazi's regime. The main responsability of the Wasserschutzpolizei was to control and patrol the rivers, to control the fluvial traffic, to repress the smuggling and to control the respect of the security measures in fluvial navigation. The ORPO was under command of an SS-Oberstgruppenfüher but was independent from SS Command and organisation.
