Finally somebody who dares tell the truth! Congratulations! Isn't this enough proof that the Greeks try to steal our glorious Makedonski history? Aleksandar Filippovich and Solun Filippovna are the real names. The Macedonians spoke Slavic and were a slavic tribe. Soon, we'll find inscriptions that prove this! And yes cortophagus, it's true that every citizen here prays 3 hours a day for this! Our Prime Minister ordered, er, I mean asked us to do so! So what? Is it your problem? |

Did the Ancient Greeks have According to one website, they
do, i.e. Cleopatra's last name
is Ptolemy. Yet Ptolemy was
the name of her father, and in
this case, isn't a true "last
name". What would his last
name be? Someone else
mentioned the Ancient Greeks
did not have last names but
rather the name of the
city-state was "assigned" to
their first for
identification. I.e. Helen of
Troy. Any other ideas???
By "true last name", just a
traditional last name
different than someone's
first... thanks.

I am guessing you mean like Plato Smith. The norm at the time was to identify someone by their town or occupation. Plato the Butcher for example. The Romans tended to have them, and clans like the Scots and Irish tacked on the Clan name to their first. As to Cleo, she was of the Ptolemy dynasty, which came down for the general of Alexander the Great, who ruled those lands after Alex died. |
