...The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), originally the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA), is a United States non-profit business and trade association to advance the business interests of movie studios. The MPAA administers the voluntary but dominant MPAA film rating system. As part of its campaign to stop copyright infringement, the MPAA is fighting to stop the sharing of copyrighted works via peer-to-peer file-sharing networks. The MPAA's anti-piracy campaign has gained much publicity and criticism. Read full entry

no you cant sue them for that......that would be like sueing Subway cause they dont got taco's.............. The MPAA has nothing to do with what os systems will work on which dvd's......all the MPAA really does is screen and rate the movies......It's not there fault if it wont work on ur computer....it'll work on ur normal dvd player to ur tv........and probly the reason it wont let u watch it on ur computer is anti-copy gaurd on it..................Any ways...i dont want to sound like an a-hole.....but u cant blame everybody else for things that aren't their fault.... |

MPAA Files Suit Against Two MPAA Files Suit Against Two
Websites
The Motion Picture Association
of America has sued two
websites that publish menus of
movies that can be downloaded
on peer-to-peer websites. The
two sites, YouTVpc and
Peekvid, receive revenue not
from the pirates but from
advertisers and from donations
by users. Although the MPAA
claims that the two sides aid
and abet copyright
infringement, a notice on
Peekvid reads: "Peekvid is
committed to an industry
solution that will provide a
mechanism to compensate
artists that create the work
you enjoy watching. Peekvid
would like to be part of the
long term solution." And on
his website, Mike Masnick, CEO
of Techdirt, observed that the
two sites are essentially
doing "the same thing that a
search engine like Google
does. There are plenty of
Google searches that will lead
you to unauthorized content,
but for some reason, the
entertainment industry
believes that if you make a
specialized search engine or
directory you're somehow .

I say it's about time. I really wonder when stealing became okay. I assume people think that because they aren't actually going to Best Buy and taking it off the shelves, that there's nothing wrong with it. It's morally repugnant what these people are doing. I actually had a girl on here last night spouting nonsense about how it's only illegal in our country because the movie industry has gotten to our politicians. I had to explain it's illegal every where in the world, because its STEALING. I'm sick and tired of all the questions in the movie section about where to download movies. They should make a "Movie Piracy" section for all the thieves out there. |
