Mineral definition and classification
To be classified as a true mineral, a substance must be a solid and have a crystalline structure. It must also be a naturally occurring, homogeneous substance with a defined chemical composition. Traditional definitions excluded organically derived material. However, the International Mineralogical Association in 1995 adopted a new definition:- a mineral is an element or chemical compound that is normally crystalline and that has been formed as a result of geological processes.

Mineral is not actually a nutrient but is a group of nutrients that can be very different. Minerals are called such because they can be found and made without the benefit of a living organism. These include things such as Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Iron etc. Vitamins are more complex substances that are made by living things such as plants or animals. The body needs both in the correct amounts for optimum health. You experience different symptoms when you have too little or too much of each of the different minerals and vitamins that your body needs. |

What is your favorite mineral I have been using Bare
Minerals for quite some time,
and I am very satisfied with
it. I think it makes my skin
look soft, natural, and
luminous.
However, I have heard a lot of
people say that it's dry,
cakey, and unnatural.
Have you used any mineral
foundations that you liked
better than Bare?
Please only answer if you've
tried Bare Minerals as well as
other brands of mineral
foundation.

I didn't like BM because it irritated my skin (Bismuth). Otherwise since I have oily skin, it did nothing for me except made my face look like an oil slick. I prefer Alima or Everyday Minerals in Intensive or Matte. Anyway you're lucky it works for you! But if you want Mineral Foundation without all the gimmicks and 25 dollar price tag, I'd go with those two. Try looking up reviews of these products (makeupalley.com) and you'll be surprised! |
