How English frenzy are I am making a presentation.
The target audience is the
Malaysian Govt, business
people there.
The kind of English that I
have used is like "We endeavor
to set up a Project" "We wish
to be the premier in this
field" "We aim to steer it in
this direction"
Is it too technical for ppl
there and Govt officials in
general or will this kind of
language work?

English 'frenzy?' You mean, perhaps, English FRIENDLY? I can't say what level of English you'll encounter, although Malaysia was an English Colony from the early 1800s until 1957. As far as writing goes, that sort of overblown prose isn't good business writing. You can say things directly and grammaticaly without sounding like a Senator campaining for re-election. But as long as you avoid slang and figures of speech, somebody should be able to translate/interpret it. |

Under current system, No ! - possible only if there are real British teachers to teach our children from kindergarten till at least form 5 in all subjets, (like 50 years ago)....and the medium of instruction must the "Queen's English" ....because there are different "dialects" of English, e.g. Southern, Midlands, Norhtern...even Southern Englanders have trouble understanding Northern Englanders... However, our youngsters can learn any accent from the foreign programs on TV or video disks faster than any "education system" ..... |
