It means you can have potluck suppers at church and eat lutfisk if so inclined. You are also allowed to say things like Uffda, or Yassir, you betcha. Jesus said the meek would inherit the earth, but so far all we've gotten is Minnesota and North Dakota. Garrison Keillor
What is the difference betweenthe different Lutheranchurches/branches?
Like whats the difference between Lutheran Breatherean and Lutheran Redeemer and what ever other ones there are. Why do they have different Lutheran branches? [p.s. sorry if i spelled breatheran wrong, i cant figured out how and they dont have it on spell check..]
There are 3 main branches of the Lutheran Church in the US: WELS, LCMS, and ELCA. WELS is ultra-conservative, LCMS is middle of the road, and ELCA is liberal to the point of walking away from Lutheran doctrine. Then you have lots of little splinter groups. Each one thinks that they are doing the best they can be to stay by biblical teachings and Lutheran doctrine. Some do it well, others... well, they are Lutheran in name only. The 3 biggies all have websites. The little ones... you may have to google each one to find their specific take on Lutheran teachings. The Brethren are a small conservative group, whose emphasis is on missionary work. Lutheran Redeemer... that sounds like just the name of a church, not it's Lutheran affiliation.
Did the Lutheran Church in theMiddle ages allow banking orotherwise earning money frommoney?
I know that in the middle ages the Pope forbid Christians to earn money from money, which is why the Jewish Ghetto did that. But when Martin Luther created the Lutheran church, was that practice allowed?
The Reformation and the birth of Protestantism marks the end of the Late Middle Ages and the beginning of the Early Modern Period. Therefore there was no Lutheran Church in the Middle Ages. With love in Christ.
