...The Levant () (', , also known as المشرق (Mashriq)) describes, traditionally, the Eastern Mediterranean at large, but can be used as a geographical term that denotes a large area in Western Asia formed by the lands bordering the eastern shores of the Mediterranean, roughly bounded on the north by the Taurus Mountains, on the south by the Arabian Desert, and on the west by the Mediterranean Sea, while on the east it extends towards the Zagros Mountains. The Levant includes the countries of Lebanon, Israel, State of Palestine, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and occasionally Cyprus and the Sinai. What was the piano piece A.J. Benza hosted a TV series
about celebrities called
"Mysteries and Scandals". The
episode about 1950's pianist
and cultural critic Oscar
Levant concluded with a sad
piano piece played over the
closing credits. Similar to
the one that played at the end
of the Incredible Hulk (What
was that one, also?). Probably
a classical piano tune.

Did everyone in the Levant Especially to kings?
I just read through Genesis,
and the triple repetition of
the "That's not my wife,
that's my sister" seems really
peculiar.
Genesis 12:13-20; Genesis ch.
20; Genesis 26:7-11.

Interesting question. Not only does Abraham tell the Egyptians his wife was his sister, he condones his wife becoming the Pharaoh's lover. In trade he is literally enriched: "Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, menservants and maidservants, and camels." Isn't this tantamount to pimping out your wife? And why did God punish the Pharaoh and not Abram? Does this mean God condones prostitution among devout Christians, but not unknowing adultery amongst unbelievers like the Pharaoh? Wow. |
