Knee Arthritis?
Im 15 and i have arthritis in my knees. When I go running my knee suddenly gets sharp pains when I lean on it while running . How can I treat this before running
I'm 17 and I also have arthritis, I was diagnosed when I was 11 and knee braces have worked really well for me in the past. If you are still feeling pain in your knee then you might need to have some physical therapy - I had to do some pt a few years ago and it really helped me out. If you dont think you necessarily need pt then before you go on a run, give your knee a little rub down and make sure its nice and loose
Is it proper to give a patientOxycontin and Percocet forpain that supposedly resultsfrom knee arthritis?
The man had a commuted left patella fracture and supposedly he developed patellofemoral arthritis secondary to this injury. The doctor claims that he has chronic pain syndrome from it and prescribed him Percocet and Oxycontin. Is this proper? Aren't Percocet and Oxycontin too strong for arthritis of the knee? Would not Celebrex suffice?
That's what a lot of people in narcotic diversion units think, too. But they don't have bum knees. Each person and his level of pain, and his response to medication, is completely individual, and the obvious risks from oxycodone may be less than the debility from the patellofemoral arthritis. Nobody but the patient and his doctor really have much business sticking their noses into the decision, especially considering that the statistics on pain relief are pretty miserable. Only a minority of people treated for pain are given adequate relief. You might want to look at some of the studies on oligoanalgesia. I'm not so familiar with the bulk of literature outside my specialty, but in emergency medicine, Knox Todd has been leading the charge on adequate pain relief for many years.
Can anything be done aboutknee arthritis for an athleticteenager?
So, my 17 year old daughter, who has been playing basketball for 10 years. She is 6'1" and about 200 lbs. She's been having problems with her knees swelling and a lot of pain. Well, I took her up to U of M to see an orthopedic surgeon who requested an MRI for her knees. The next day she called to say that my daughter has arthritis and that nothing could be done about it. Can this be true? She really wants to continue playing basketball when she goes to college, but the pain is getting worse. Does anyone have any suggestions to help out an athlete?
First thing you are supposed to do is avoid pain killer meds. Now you will come to know the pain grade. Second thing is rest. Avoid all types of stress and strains on knee joints. Your daughter is young and she can escape out with proper guidance only, because - There is no medicine for RA, OA, H/A, Back ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic. Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, INDIVIDUAL CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 90% success in treating ALL PAINS confirms it. Third is Acupuncture; it is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see. (Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds. The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.) Fourth is Naturopathy. Some herbal pulps, hot mud bandages around knee will help. Pure ghee drawn from butter is the best lubricant; pl use it in both meals. Milk, cocoanut, sprouts, and salads will also help. But remember rest will be the best. Source(s): SHREE SWASTHYAYOG TREATMENT, TRAINING & RESEARCH INSTITUTE R.H. 19, Jhulelal Society, Sector 2/E, Airoli, Navi Mumbai, INDIA.
